Session Overview

We're seeking to overhaul our IT infrastructure, including our point-of-sale system, website, and database. The issues we're trying to resolve include real-time inventory updates for 140,000 items on the web and a secure e-commerce platform that integrates with our in-store system.

We're hoping for advice on best first steps if you have time to provide guidance.

Nonprofit Overview

Scarecrow Video is the world's largest publicly available archive of film and television. We are dedicated to championing the indispensable role of film arts in community, cultural, and civic life. We are committed to building film literacy, ensuring full public access, advancing cultural and educational enrichment through community-based programming, and supporting the arts capacity of civic groups, educational institutions, and nonprofits.

We provide low-cost rentals of 140,000+ titles (more than 3 times the number available from all major streaming services combined). We proudly offer films by and about marginalized storytellers, and our library is curated to draw attention to areas overlooked by common outlets, including LGBTQIA+ filmmakers; a comprehensive documentary collection that includes history, social justice issues, women’s and civil rights; and an expansive foreign section representing stories from 129 countries. We use this singular collection for (always free) community outreach programs. We deliver films and social opportunities directly to 10 senior and community centers (including 3 elder LGBTQIA+ groups).

Our Screening Room offers films and lectures nearly every night and serves as a hub for local community groups, including Youthcare which uses the space to provide screenings for teens at-risk of homelessness. We offer a weekly Children's Hour, which is a combination of traditional storytime supplemented with clips from the collection, arts activities, and science experiments. And we present community programming like our annual Movies in the Park, which provides family-friendly films and pre-show arts activities.
