Project Overview
Join NeighborScapes in revolutionizing our employee handbook! We're looking for a volunteer who can develop an employee handbook or make updates to our existing materials. We're hoping to find a partner with a background in HR and/or operations to improve transparency and accountability by clarifying our employees’ legal rights and our policies, benefits, and other expectations for performance and conduct in a new or revised employee handbook. This project will contain the following activities:
-Conducting an audit of our existing policies, including reviewing our existing materials and asking any clarifying questions
-Identifying policies that we should modify and any new policies or areas that should be addressed and included
-Presenting a detailed outline of a new handbook
-Finalizing the handbook after receiving feedback from our team
NeighborScapes, an Illinois-based nonprofit, seeks a volunteer HR professional to revitalize our employee handbook. This project is more than just updating a document; it's about enhancing transparency and accountability and aligning our policies with our mission. We need an HR expert passionate about shaping positive work environments. Your expertise will translate complex legal and operational standards into clear, actionable guidelines for our team.
Your Role:
Audit: Review and assess our existing policies.
Innovate: Identify and suggest essential updates or new policy inclusions.
Outline & Finalize: Create and refine a comprehensive handbook in collaboration with our team.
Your Impact:
Shape Our Culture: Directly influence our workplace environment and employee experience.
Professional Growth: A unique opportunity to apply and showcase your HR skills in a nonprofit setting.
Collaborative Experience: Work alongside a dedicated team, broadening your professional network.
Commitment: Flexible, with periodic check-ins over a few weeks or months.
Be the change-maker in our organization! Help us build an employee handbook that not only meets legal standards but also embodies our values and vision. Your contribution will have a lasting impact on our team and our community.
To prepare, we've designated a team member to oversee the project. We'll provide you with our existing Employee Handbook (if applicable), internal communications regarding employment policies, and any other employment policies that we have in place. The volunteer should expect to spend 15-20 hours over 4-5 weeks.
