Project Overview
Iowa Migrant Movement for Justice (Iowa MMJ) is seeking proposals from qualified teams or individuals to conduct a compensation study and make recommendations for a compensation structure for the organization. The study will review the current positions within the organization (currently 13 positions) and will review market and internal equity. The end product will include recommendations for a compensation plan that the organization can use when making hiring and salary determinations.
Interested teams or individuals should submit any questions regarding this RFP and complete proposals to Erica Johnson at ejohnson@iowammj.org no later than May 31st, 2022. Iowa MMJ Background: Iowa MMJ is a statewide membership-based legal service and advocacy organization driven and led by immigrant and refugee voices and united with allies. Our mission is to build a movement for justice led by immigrants and refugees in Iowa by providing high-quality legal services and community empowerment through organizing. We envision ann Iowa that is welcoming and inclusive, where the rights of immigrants and refugees are ensured through access to legal services, their voices are heard and the issues that impact them are addressed.
Project Background & Scope: Iowa MMJ was launched in April 2021 and is the result of uniting two long-time immigrants’ rights organizations, AFSC Iowa and Iowa JFON. Iowa MMJ is looking to create a compensation structure that is equitable and competitive in the market.
The consultant is expected to develop recommendations for a compensation structure based on the following:
Review job descriptions: Based on those job descriptions, the consultant will determine inter-agency equity within job families and appropriate market comparisons.
Market review: The consultant will review market comparisons for similar organizations and similar positions. This review should include data focused on equitable compensation for communities or identities that have historically received inequitable compensation.
Compensation structure: Utilizing data from the market review, the consultant will prepare a recommended compensation structure to correspond to Iowa MMJ’s existing classification structure. Iowa MMJ staff and board members have conducted initial market reviews and are looking for expert help to bring us forward and produce a useable tool moving forward.
