Project Overview

We are looking for some guidance and assistance in writing grants so we can get back on our feet and expand. Our goal is to do further work with established afterschool low-income programs/community centers and ultimately open our own, in one or many of the communities in need.

We are relaunching after the last two years of sitting almost dormant. Before the pandemic, we had a community art center that didn't charge for the kids to come in and learn. We were able to supply students with art and music supplies as everything moved online but the donations dwindled and money dried up.

There are several in Grant Watch we feel match our mission but our grant writer has moved on to different work. But I know this is only a fraction of what is available and any more guidance would be appreciated.

We are artists, musicians, and art teachers and know very well how important the Arts are to a child in learning communication skills, problem-solving, social and emotional skills, fine motor skills, and self-expression. But we are not writers and we know how special this skill is to grant writing. We need this type of artist to write the magic to help us expand our reach and supplies.

We have the knowledge, we have the instruments and and the musicians who are will to donate their time to teach music lessons. We have art and dance teachers ready to push the creative experience. We sponsor a sculpture park where our young musicians and artists can show off their new skills and passion. We have support from several school systems already counting on our help, We are also working with a local Police program that uses our supplies to bring kids off the streets. We are hoping to open again do this in more communities and neighborhoods.

Our teachers, members and board are ready and excited to establish location/s where kids are able to walk in afterschool and explore in a safe environment. Keep them off the streets, off their phones and their gaming devices.

Nonprofit Overview

Give Kids the Arts is a registered 501(c)(3) built by artists and teachers. We know how important the Arts are to a child in learning communication skills, problem-solving, social and emotional skills, fine motor skills, and self-expression. We collect new art supplies, new and gently used music, and dance equipment, lessons, studio time, tickets to museums, shows, and concerts and distribute these items to less fortunate children, after-school programs, and community centers where artistic, musical, and dance pursuits can be difficult.
