Project Overview

Need a website designed and built. SolarFi Cares is creating Juneteenth, Inc. is a non–profit organization supporting Black lives and communities through economic development. We have a deep engagement with the Black Lives Matter movement, working with companies by creating better operational and business practices by giving African-Americans fair opportunities. We provide them with the skills to act, using their means to influence one another through BAM (Black Action Matters) Certification; we make these institutions accountable. Our primary objective is to advocate and for the Black lives to publicly inspire action and involve businesses, which we believe nowadays are uniquely placed to transform the conversation and translate words into actions, into this movement giving them the correct tools through third-party verification (similar to what B Corps does, but for racial-equality).

(Inspiration)

Until now, there is no organization in America with a certification like BAM Certified but the government of South Africa has improved racial equality through the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE), which is a form of economic empowerment that measures equity ownership and management representation against apartheid entrenched status quo prohibiting non-whites from fair economic participation. BAM Certified believes there is a lot to learn from that and takes inspiration from BBBEE´s purpose.
You will be part of something that is groundbreaking and needed. Our mission is to build a global movement to create and preserve socio-economic opportunities for all African-Americans and we work for all businesses' economic sustainability by redefining diversity in the workplace to become the organic norm. We keep companies accountable to their pledges by adopting new policies that support African- Americans throughout the entire supply chain, hiring, and procurement. It is very encouraging that nowadays many institutions and companies are reviewing their internal cultures, mores and operational practices to increase inclusion. This reaction to recent events is laudable but not enough since there is already a very damaged social structure from continuous race discrimination, not only affecting African-Americas economically, but within: criminal justice system, human rights, welfare, education, political participation; from more than 100 years of slavery, segregation, and anti-Black violence. Today as more companies say that they are in support of the BLM movement when everyone claims to be the same thing those words matter less. We have to get from behind the stories because anybody can tell a good story. The question is, what are the facts behind that story? We know they tell the full picture and they backed up by standards and metrics that make us trust in what we're being the story that was being sold.

We have assembled a board and a pitch deck that needs to be converted into a website to tell our story and attracts donors. We have done research and love what B-Corp has done with their site. https://bcorporation.net/

Nonprofit Overview

Our thematic focus areas are health, education, and economic development with solar energy access being the thread connecting them all. With the power of Solar and IoT we can lift a generation out of poverty. Access to solar energy and last-mile distribution is a mission that SolarFi has tirelessly been working on.

SolarFi Cares is currently working towards two main goals:
- Providing power-generating pods for emergency response, combining a structure with portable solar-powered systems to provide power, communication and water in post-disaster zones.
- Providing solar-powered clinics in rural Africa, tackling both the current response to COVID-19, as well as creating a long-term plan for economic sustainability post-pandemic. Our solar-powered clinics will serve as a center for primary diagnostic and preventive care in rural areas, equipped with COVID-19 test kits, antibody testing, basic medicines, vaccinations against other preventable diseases, and delivery of health supplies. Using solar energy to generate power allows the clinics to be completely off-grid, bringing healthcare to the most remote communities.
