We are a small nonprofit with big impact, working with adolescent girls in the slums of Kenya to be changemakers in their own communities. Since 2014, we have supported over 1,500 of the most vulnerable girls from margins to lead change together. We believe that solving the world’s biggest challenges requires girls at the center of the solutions, surrounded by communities of action, in which we are bonded to one another based on shared values and not by race, ethnicity or tribe.
Now more than ever, our global community needs new ways for women and girls to take leadership roles early on, so that societal norms of inequality and abuse will shift for the next generation.
We have pivoted our holistic educational model to focus on emergency needs of the community due to the pandemic - http://www.girlsonfireleaders.com/covid19 . The need is only increasing and bringing on other issues that we need resources to address ( increase in gender based violence, high teen pregnancy, food instability, mental health, physical health issues, etc).
Volunteers will be writing the applications for the grants on Covid-19 relief efforts on existing programs, so the grants will represent no new hires.
