We are 100% volunteers working to make affordable housing happen. We are a startup nonprofit working to build truly affordable housing. We hope to take advantage of Sonoma County California's Cottage Housing Development provision that allows construction of tiny houses on foundations as affordable options. This is an opportunity we don't want to miss in a county with a housing waiting list of over 25,000 people. In order for us to make this happen, we are raising funds to purchase our first property in San Joaquin County to give us equity in order to purchase property in Sonoma County. In San Joaquin County we also have an opportunity to buy an empty lot where we can build prefabricated tiny houses to further reduce the cost to build. This way we can provide housing at rates a minimum wage earner can afford at $780 a month. Our Google Ads account is live with the $10k a month grant. In 2021 we used about $3,000 of Google's in-kind donations for the year. We would love to see this number go up for 2022 and bring potential donors to our websites, care-association.org and care-clt.org.
We provide volunteers with an email address to access our Google Workspace and Ads account.
We are glad to provide a LinkedIn recommendation should we see improvements to our Ads account. We also have swag!
Care Association plans, develops, and implements innovative strategies to alleviate economic burdens on lower- and middle-income households. We serve households in the United States that pay more than 30% of their gross income on housing or are transient because of lack of affordable housing.
Innovative strategies include three distinct projects: real property development, assistance for emotional resolution of blocks to achieving economic wellness, and the Care For Us community web application.
Many conventional “affordable housing” plans include subsidies to cover the “market rates” for vacancies. But the real demand is for housing at costs that households in lower income brackets can afford. With property development, we aim to create housing affordable for a minimum wage earner.
